Our story began before our paths even crossed.
Back in 2022, we individually decided to uproot our lives to move to Thailand in hopes of exploring the world and immersing ourselves in a new culture and way of life. We like to think there was some invisible force pulling each of us from small-town Ohio and upstate New York to the other side of the planet. At the time, we weren't yet aware of how this decision would change the trajectory of our lives.
After finalizing our paperwork and receiving our school placements, we discovered that we would be teaching at the same school. The weeks leading up to our departure were filled with late night FaceTimes, a constant stream of texts, and countless voice memos as we anticipated the unknown.
Once we finally landed in Bangkok and met each other for the first time, there was an immediate spark. There is something magical about getting to know someone in a foreign country - without the social norms and pressures of American society. We were given the chance to be our authentic selves. We quickly bonded over trying the craziest foods we could find, bouncing lesson plans off of each other, and planning weekend trips to explore this new country we'd come to call home. While we were falling in love with our new lives, we were also falling in love with each other.
During these past few years, our relationship has only grown stronger and deeper as we navigated living abroad, months of world travel, a move back to the U.S., and setting up new roots in the greatest city in the world, New York.
We couldn't have imagined the amazing memories, friendships, or marriage that would come from the invisible string tugging at us to find one another. And now, we couldn't be more excited for the next chapter of our lives as husband and wife.
